Where we came from…

Imail was launched by UK Mail PLC in 2008 by our CEO and Executive Chair and fast became the UK’s leader in Hybrid Mail Services.

In 2016 DHL Parcel UK acquired UK Mail PLC. During this tenure imail rebranded to UK Mail Digital to reflect the transition of the business from a print and mail business to a communications technology business. With mail being sent to 30 million homes every day; UK Mail and UK Mail Digital were the largest integrated print and postal operator in the UK.

In 2021, UK Mail Digital became an independent business through a Management Buyout backed by Mercia Asset Managements private equity fund. The business has subsequently rebranded to imail Comms Limited. This transition provides the investment, pace and focus to remain the UKs leader in Customer Communication Management (CCM) for small, medium, enterprise and Public Sector organisations.

Andy Barber

I’m Andy, co-founder and CEO of imail comms which was created through a management buyout of DHLs UK Mail Digital division. Way back in 2008 the imail was launched bringing innovation & technology to the postal communications market. Over the years my team has evolved, but the open and supportive culture alongside a determination to excel have remained constant.

My goal will always be to provide an atmosphere where people can thrive and realise their full potential. Although we are all dedicated team players who work hard at our jobs, I make sure that everyone also remembers that hard work is only part of their lives and we are all doing this for a greater purpose. We all work in a friendly but challenging environment, and I’m excited to watch each team member develop to their full potential.

I started working for imail in 2016 and have clocked up 40 years in the print & mailing industry. I run an enthusiastic operations team that embodies the DNA of imail: customer first mindset, can do attitude and right first time principles. We are committed to delivering industry leading levels of service day after day. As a business we’ve taken the best parts of being part of a large company like DHL and since the MBO accelerated profitable growth. It’s important for long serving employees like me to help new starters settle in and I enjoy that part of my role.
